Running for Somerton and Frome

Running for Somerton and Frome

Today I announce that I am running to be Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Somerton and Frome, hoping to follow in the footsteps of David Heath and be the next MP.

I’ve opened up a separate website for this selection, www.martinturner.info, as it is principally a matter for local party members, who will be voting on 1 February. All offers of help gratefully received — ring me on 07753 683 337 or email martin.turner@unforgettable.com. Please consider liking my Facebook page, MartinTurnerLibDem.

You can see a short video of me here, talking about it.

Somerton and Frome is in Somerset, and has been held by the Liberal Democrats since David Heath won it from the Tories by 130 votes. Since then he worked hard as a constituency MP and front bench spokesman, becoming a minister during this government. By 2010, he had increased the majority to 3%. David announced he was stepping down last autumn.
