Brown finds someone willing to be in his government
BBC NEWS | Politics | Harman wins deputy leader contest Harriet Harman has been elected Labour deputy leader, narrowly beating Alan Johnson. This must surely be a welcome relief for Gordon Brown. Lord Goldsmith doesn’t want to serve with him, John Reid doesn’t want to either. Paddy Ashdown turned him down. Word on the street is that former Met Commissioner Lord Stevens gave him the cold shoulder. What’s more, Peter Hain has made it absolutely clear that he is ”not at all miffed or bothered” by Mr Brown’s decision to offer his job to Lord Ashdown. Which, of course, is code for absolutely furious. People are even talking about him offering a job to Kenneth Clarke. (more…)
